From the album, Holy Wars (2006)
All the witches are in chains and you peek out your window
Watch the priests drag them down the street to the burning ground
See the torches, feel the flames, and you hear them screaming
Hide your face, close the curtain, it’ll all go away.
Hear the righteous ones preach that it’s all for the good of the people
Send the sinners back down to the devil where they belong
But your heart says those sinners are really no different than you are
How much longer until that same finger comes pointing at you?
And what are you gonna do
What are you gonna do
When the Inquisition comes for you?
You lie back in your bed, your eyes staring up at the darkness
But the images haunt you, you can’t seem to send them away
The face that you saw looking up at your window in horror
The face of an innocent caught up in hatred and rage.
And what are you gonna do
What are you gonna do
When the Inquisition comes for you?
Your mind asks you how many more souls must suffer this torment
Your conscience asks when you will cry out it all has to end
But your fear replies silence is golden, it’s just not your problem
Pull the covers up closer and hope that it all goes away
And what are you gonna do
What are you gonna do
When the Inquisition comes for you?
And what are you gonna do
What are you gonna do
When the Inquisition comes for you?
When the Inquisition comes for you?
